Yoga Tutors

Andrew Wrenn is a BWY trained teacher who discovered yoga in his late 20s, he has a background in biology and an interest in various philosophical systems. As a life-long asthmatic he turned to yogic breathing techniques when his doctor prescribed stronger medication. Inquiry led him to the traditions of Tantra and Advaita Vedanta, travelling to remote sacred locations in India.

Yogacharini Sonia Allen-Wall has taught yoga for over 30 years, she studied Ayurveda under David Frawley, and is a yoga therapist.  She trained in yoga with Sri Paul at Notting Hill Gate, with BKS Iyengar, Dr Swami Gitananda Giri and styles such as vinyasa and Chinese yoga. She teaches yoga as AWARENESS...on all levels and layers.

After decades of practice - pain and injury led Shakti Bhakti (Helen Barker) to the teaching of Mukunda Stiles.  He opened the pathways of healing which continue to enable her to navigate the challenges of daily life.  She combines the restorative teachings of Judith Lasater with suksma marma therapy, together with Structural and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy.

Cheryl Lee-Appleby lived at the Manjushri Institute Buddhist Community near Ulverston, Cumbria 1983 -91, completing her BWY Diploma in 1988. She has taught inCumbria for many years. The Scaravelli approach, strength & balance work have been major influences.

Minker Chang is co-lead teacher at Proper Northern Yoga Teacher training. His teaching is based Patanjali's eight-limbs and takes inspiration from Buddhist teachings of wisdom and compassion. His focus is on slow, mindful breathing synced with movement, balancing the opposites with the help of diverse yogic tools and movement modalities

Jayadhara (Jane Cluley) has used yoga as a journey of self-discovery and healing since university and after training with BWY, she began teaching in 1988. She studied yoga philosophy in India and offers BWY Foundation and Diploma teacher training courses. She uses a staged approach drawing on the wisdom of Satyananda Yoga, Mukunda Stiles, Yin Yoga and Mindfulness.
