What is Yoga?

Yoga is a path of self development dating back over 5,000 years encompassing body mind and spirit.

It is a path to health and well-being with awareness as its cornerstone.
It brings physical vitality, mental resilience and profound inner peace.

Why come to a Yoga Class?

Where are the Classes?

My yoga classes are based around Easingwold, York and Thirsk. All classes include postures (asanas), breathwork (pranayama) and deep relaxation (Yoga Nidra) or meditation appropriate to the level of the class.

What style do you teach?

I teach traditional Hatha Yoga, my holistic approach is informed by Satyananda Yoga Tradition and emphasises gradual development of each student’s potential in terms of flexibility, strength, mental quietness and emotional balance.

“Yoga is not an ancient myth buried in oblivion. It is the most valuable inheritance of the present. It is the essential need of today and the culture of tomorrow”

Swami Satyananda Saraswati

Can I come and try it?

You are most welcome to come at any time during the term to try classes and see if they are right for you. You can pay as you go, or for regular attendance by the term.

What shall I wear?

Please wear loose comfortable clothing such as T-shirt / sweatshirt and jogging pants. Yoga is done in bare feet. Bring something warm to wear for relaxation.

What do I need to bring?

Please bring a yoga mat and necessary padding / blocks or meditation stool so that you can sit and lie comfortably. You may wish to bring a blanket or fleece for the final relaxation.

What else do I need to know?

Do not eat heavily for at least 2 hours before the class. Please arrive a few minutes early.

At the start of your first class, you’ll be asked to complete a confidential registration form including your contact details, and any injuries or conditions. This is important to ensure that you can practise safely and alternatives are offered when necessary.

Yoga during pregnancy

Pregnant students are very welcome from the start of the second trimester onwards. Please contact the teacher in advance if you are pregnant and would like to join.

Weekly Classes

Classes are usually mixed ability, suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some experience. Modifications are given to take into account a range of health conditions or injuries.

Yoga Workshops, Courses and Weekend Retreats

I tutor BWY Diploma (Yoga Teacher Training) and Foundation Courses for deepening personal practice.  I have also developed courses to promote teachings following Satyananda Yoga tradition, One-day Workshops and joyous Weekend Yoga Retreats with myself or other inspirational tutors.
